ROD AND GUN CLUB.
ANNUAL SUPPER. The annual fish supper of the Christchurch Rod and Gun Club was held last night at tho Federal Hotel. Mr F. N. Meadows presided l . After the toast of the King had been honoured, Mr W. Pratt proposed the toast <© the Christchurch Anglers’ Club. For good healthy sport, ho said, there wan nothing to compare with angling. It was restful, and tended to create a kindly fellow-feeling among its devotees. Of all snorts it was absolutely tbe best. Mr A. Assenheim briefly responded. In proposing the toast of “ The Press” the chairman expressed the gratitude of anglers and shooting men for the space given to their interests in tho local papers, and publishing their doings, even though some of the stories were rather “ fishy.” Other toasts honoured were “The Ladies,” proposed hv Mr E. J. High ton, and seconded hv Mr J. W. Shand; “The Rod and Gun Club,” proposed by Mr C. Allen, who eulogised the sporting attractions of New Zealand, and seconded by Air La very; and “Tho] Fishermen.” proposed by the chairman. and seconded by Mr Dockery, who i gave a brief description of the adven- . tares experienced by those who had caught the fish necessary ( fcr tho, supper. During the evening musical * items wove contributed by Messrs Bailey, Parnell. C. Ward. IV. H. Price, Assenheim, IV, Pratt and Robertson. j
