SOUTH CHRISTCHURCH ELECTION.

TO TOE EDITOR. Sir, —It lias been rumoured in tho Spreydon portion of the district that Mr Elk if not actively hostile to the Somerfiold School, was not actively in favour of it, and this is being used to his detriment by liis opponents. Now, I have copies of tho letters that have passed between Mr Ell and the Minister of Education upon the question of a grant for tho school, and I shall be pleased to show any “ Doubting Thomas” tho letters referred to, which prove that Mr Ell was not only not hostilo, but worked his hardest to obtain tho grant, and tho residents are indebted to him for the persistent manner in which he advocated th© claims of tho Somerfield School.—l am. etc., Henry r. husbridge. Sydenham, September 8.
