ATHLETIC.

[Fnoii Oun ComtEsroxDEXT.] DTJNEDIN, April 1. W. F. Tremboth, who proceeds to England on Monday, made an attempt at the Caledonian Ground this afternoon to break his own record for the half-mile of lmin 67 l-osec. He was paced for the first quarter by Duff, and for tho second by M'Lachlan. The worst part of the track ivas very heavy on account of the rain, and, though Trembath did the first quarter in oGsec, he faltered somewhat in his stride at the boggy end of the ground, but did verv well to finish in 2min 0 l-osec. Under the conditions the performance was a very good one.
