HOCKEY.
The. Hinemoa Ladies' Hockey Club held a practice match in tlio Kaiapoi Park on Saturday, when a largo number of players attended. The annual meeting of the Ashburton Hockey Club was hold on Friday evening, when Mr Mainwaring occupied the chair. The annual report and bal-ance-sheet were read and adopted. The following officers were elected : —Patron, Mr 0. Reed; president, Mr F. Mainwaring ; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Nosworthy, M.P., F. Watt, W. J. Moo-re, 11. A. Humphreys, M. G. C. Pascoe, L. G. M'Donald and A. Silcock; committee, Messrs T. Minnis, F. Watt, C. Nottingham and C. H. Amos; practico captain, Mr W. Hewitt; vicecaptain, Mr H. Fringe; selection committee, captain, vico-cnptain, practice captain and secretary; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. H. Jainc; delegate to the Sports Association, Mr L. G. M'Donald. The election of a captain was held over until tho next ordinary meeting. Tho question of a ground was Toft in the hands of the secretary to communicate with the Sports Association. Tho opening day was fixed for Thursday, when a match has been arranged with the Southern Cross Football Club. A challenge from the Kaiapoi Club was accepted, and tho match was arranger! for Easter Monday. The annual meeting of the Puiahine Hockey Club was held at Temuka on Friday evening, when there was a good attendance. The report and balancesheet disclosed a very satisfactory position of affairs. Officers were appointed for the year and committees were appointed to select the best forward and liaok player for Trophies presented by Messrs Pullen and W. J. Kovs.
