Robinson; 440yds hurdles, H. E. Hamilton, I. Cook and W. L. Paterson; long jump, C. L. Orbell and F. V. Robinson; high jump, C. L. Orbell and F. 4 . Robinson; shot and hammer, W. Do Uhier and J. M’ Holme: pole jump, 0 Batstone; hop, step and jump, 0 L. Orbell. Any athlete not selected has the right to enter and compete, and any points scored by him will count for the province.

Some misunderstanding has arisen over the published statement that at a meeting or tho Cabinet yesterday an application for a State contribution towards the expenses of sending Home a team of cyclists and athletes for the Festival of Empire- was declined. When in the south recently. Sir Joseph Ward stated that the Government would give a subsidy of £1 for £1 up to £250 towards the expenses of sending Home a team of athletes to represent the dominion at the Festival of Empire sports. That decision still stands. In tlie case dealt with by tlie Cabinet the request for a subsidy came from the Canterbury Cycling Club, and the Cabinet decided that it could not entertain the application.
