Mr F. H*. Pyne returned to Christ church yesterday from a visit to Eng< land.
The Hon A. Baidey was a passengel from Wellington by the Maori yesterday.
Mr F. W. Marchant. (Tiraaru) was a passenger for Wellington by the Maori last evening. Messrs R. Moore (Auckland), and A. M. Colyer (London) arrived in Christchurch'yesterday.
Dr Buck, Mr W. G.Jamiesoii and Mr J. R. havward arrived from Wellington by the Maori yesterday. Among the passengers by the Maori for Wellington last evening were Messrs G. H. Scales, G. H. Mac Ewan, J. D. Campbell, the Rev G. H. Barnett and Bishop Wilson. Dr Schumacher who"-has been appointed surgeon of the Aorangi for her next voyage to San Francisco and back, left for Wellington by the Maori last evening. Mr G. Hogben. Inspector-General of Schools, will leave Christchurch by the second express to-day to visit Timaru and \Vaimate< and the school at Ote« kaike. He has come from the Auckland district, and he will pass through Christchurch on Saturday again, on his way to Wanganui and other northern districts.
The Minister of tho Tourist Department, the Hon T. Mackenzie, left tho Hermitage en Monday morning, and proceeded by the new motor service t<j Pembroke. Ho arrived there last* evening, and will go on to Queenstowm to-day. The director of the Department, Mr B. M. Wilson, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yester* day morning, and went south to join the Minister at Queenstown.
