FIRE BOARD.
The Christchurch Fire Board met last evening; piesent—Messrs .J. D. Hall (chairman), T. N. Horsley, H. R. Rusbridge, H. S. Batchelor, C. Taylor, A. L. Parsons and W. B. M'Kenzie. In response to a request from the Christchurch Underwriters' - Association it was 'iecided to call the attention of the City Council to the - fact that the by-law -with regard to iron rubbishboxes was not beir.g enforced. E. F. Holmaoi forwarded a claim of £75 for damages received in aii accident, in which, it was alleged, a horse attached to a milk-cart had been thrown and the cart upset by a hcise attached to a. motor hre-pump while out on a practice run. The --matter was referred to the chairman and Mr Parsons for a report. On the recommendation of the Staff and Plants Committee it was decided to charge:£B 8s for the brigade's attendance at the Addingtou Workshops in answer to an alarm of fire.
It was resolved to accept th©, resignation, of Foreman Stewart, who had been in the service for ten years, and to donate him £lO and £4' in lieu of absence not taken, in acknowledgment of the. services he had rendered.
