FIRES.

[Per Preps Association.] HASTINGS, March 17. A thirteen-roomed house owned and occupied by Mrs E. Bamforth was totally destroyed yesterday afternoon by lire, the cause being unknown. Mrs Bamforth was absent in "W ellington and the remainder of the family were away at the time of the outbreak. A quantity of furniture was saved, the insurances wore:—On the building, £_oo in tho National offico; on the furniture, £2OO in tho Alliance office.

On Tuesday evening a fire broke cut in a four-roomed cottage in Teinuka belonging to Mrs Ryan. Ihe neighbours gave assistance, and it was thought tho fire was extinguished, hut a little alter midnight Mrs Rvan, who had retired to rest, found that the house was in flames. The house and almost all the furniture were destroyed. The building and furniture were insured for £2OO in the Norwich Union Office.
