GOVERNMENT METEOROLOGIST’S FORECAST. Rev O. C. Bates’s summary and forecast: * Cloudy and unsettled weather-has* passed at times in all parts of the country, with showery weather on the east coast and southern districts of tho South Island. Present ndications are for a rising barometer, espoo’ally in tbo south. Strong southerly winds are probable generally, and especially about East Cape, whero conditions are rather ominous. Rain is probable on tho east coist sou'hivards. and cool and misty weather elsewhere at times. MR PAULIN’S FORECAST. Mr Paulin’s prediction, telegraphed yesterday afternoon, is as follows: South-west to south-east winds, changing to north-east, and fine for about twenty-four hours. Barometer fall.
