RIFLE SHOOTING.

[Per Phksr Association.] WOODVTLLE, December 13

Some wonderful shooting was done by the Hiph School Cadets in the competition for t.ho "Weekly Press" challenge shield. One boy, Lieutenant Hind, mp.de possibles at each range, and continued shooting at 100yds till he had mado thirty-three successive bulls. ]3ucler Raphey scored the nossiblo at 200yds, and went on till he had registered twenty successive bulls. The aggregate for the whole team is a recordr and is 33 ahead of the winning score last year. The team has had possession of the shield for two successive years.

THE VICTORY SHIELD COMPETITION. Tho third annual match for the Victory Shield, which was given by the late Mr G. G. Stead, for competition amongst the Secondary. School Cadets of North Canterbury, was held at the Redcliffs ranye on Saturday, under the supervision of Staff-Sergeant-Major Hoar. The conditions were eieht a side, ten shots at the 300 and SOPyds ranges. The Ashburton representatives led at tho shorter distance, but tho local Boys' High school cadets fired excepticr.ally well at 500 yards, and eventually won the shield by twenty-one points from tho Ashburton High School. The following are details of the shooting:
