A BRUTAL ROBBER. [Pish Phess Association.] WELLINGTON, April 23. Miss Orr, of Oamaru, who intended proceeding with some friends to Sydney, having come from Lyttolton by tho Moeraki, was reclining in her cabin when a strange man suddenly entered, shut the door and quickly grasped Miss Orr by the throat, using considerable violenco, and demanded her purse. The terrified woman handed over a purse containing between £4 and £5. The man then forced her back on the setteo and severely punched her face till she became almost insensible. Then the brutal robber succeeded in making his escape, and no trace of fii'm has yet been found. The police and detectives were summoned, and are busily investigating the circumstances and making a search. Under medical instructions, Miss Orr had to abandon making the, voyage to Sydney, it being advisable that she should stay in Wellington for the present. She will probably return to Oamaru as soon as well enough. Medical examination shows that Miss Orr's throat is severely lacerated, her face is horribly swollen, and she is suffering very much from shock.
