Bank Rates.—The bank rate is 2J per cent. Short loan bills f per cent, three months’ bills 1£ per cent; Paris li, Berlin l£d. Consols. —Consols are quoted at £BS. Colonial Securities.—Colonial securities are quoted as under, last week’s quotations being also given:—

The wheat markets are flat. The American decline is causing some nervousness. Two Australian cargoes were sold at 435. Australian on spot is scarce at 47s to 47s 6d, New Zealand nominally 45s' 6d ehortberry, 46s 6d longberry. Flour.—The market is quiet. The recent advance has been maintained. Australian patent sorts 33s to 34s ex store London.

Oats have advanced Is. New Zealand 25s to 275.

Messrs Dalgety and Company havo received the following cablegram from London, dated April 22:—"There is a better demand for New Zealand frozen lamb, and the market is firm. We quoto prime Canterbury, heavy 4|d, light sd; prime North Island, heavy 4d, light iid. New Zealand frozen mutton stocks are heavy, and there is a poor demand for other than lightweights, for which there is a' better demand owing to scarcity. We quote prime Canterbury mutton, heavy 2£d, light 3|d; prime North Island, heavy 2|d, light 3d. There is a poor demand for New Zealand frozen beef, and the market is weaker. Wo quote prime ox beef, forequarters 2§d, hindquarters 3Jd. The demand for Australian lamb is limited.
