PARISH MEETINGS.

HOLY TRINITY AVONSIDE.

The annual meeting of parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, was held on Thursday. The \-icar, Canon Pascoe, presided, and there was a large attendance. The churchwardens' report showed that though both offertories and subscriptions had increased, extra expenditure during the year had brought the debit balance up to more than £2OO. Messrs E. J. Taylor and T. Compton were appointed churchwardens, and Messrs Aiken, Bean, Crichton, Ellis, Frazer, M'Gregor, Sluis, Smith and Sowden were elected vestry men. Colonel Slater, who after forty years continuous service as churchwarden and vestryman declined reappointment owing to failing health., was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his long and faithful services to the parish. At the close of business refreshments were provided by the Elder Members' Committee of the Girls Friendly Society. ST SAVIOUR'S SYDENHAM. The* annual parish meeting of St Saviour's Church, Sydenham, was held in the schoolroom on Monday. There was an attendance of about fifty, and the vicar, the Rev P. J. Cocks, was in the chair. The vicar in his address thanked all those who had worked' with him during the year, the wardens and vestry, tho choir, the Sunday School superintendents and teachers, the Young Men's Guild officers, the children's choir, the Ladies' Guild, the magazine distributors, the organist, Miss Mansell, Mr Stothers, and the headmasters of the Sydenham and Waltham schools. The warden reported that the year had been not quite so successful as the previous four years, but there was much to be thankful for. St Augustine's Church, Cashmere Hills, had been opened on April 30, and regular Sunday services were held there in the morning and evening. It was probable that the vicar would obtain the services of a curate during the coming year. The following officers were elected: — Vicar's warden, Mr H. O. Gill; peoples' warden, Mr Francis Clark; vestry, Messrs Currie and Riseley (St Augustine's), and T. Hughes C. J. Spare, H. Spare, Watkins, W. Gasson, A. Moore, A. Remer and J. Betts. A special vote of thanks was passed to Miss Pugh for her work in connection with the mothers' meeting. ST SAVIOUR'S, WESTLYTTELTON. The annual. meeting of parishioners of St Saviour's Church, West Lyttelton, was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday. : There was a good attendance, and.the vicar, the Rev E. Eliot Chambers, presided. The vicar said that it gave him great pleasure to be once more among his people, and he was exceedingly gratified at the way the work of tho parish had progressed during his absence. He alluded particularly to the sale of work held in October, which had brought in upwards"of £l2O. He wished to thank most sincerely all who had brought about such a result, and particularly the ladies, who through the previous winter. had worked so hard, and whoso work had been crowned with success.

Votes of thanks were passed to the out-going church officers, the choir, the Sunday School teachers, and the ladies and others who had , conducted the sale of work, and to the auditor, Mr P. E. Bean. A' cordial vote of welcome was accorded the vicar on his return to the parish. The parish churchwarden, Mr G. 0. Smith, read the statement of accounts, and presented the annual balancesheet, which showed a credit balance on the year's working of upwards of £SO, tho total indebtedness of the parish being under £IOO. Tho balancensheet and report were adopted. « Tho chairman having stated that Mr Bean would stand as bishop's warden, Mr G. C. Smith was nominated as parish w,vdeu, and before declaring him elected, the chairman paid a handsome tribute to Mr Smith's work for many years past, and mentioned the pleasure it gave him to work with Mr Smith. The following were elected a vestrv:—Messrs J. Newton, G. Sopp, D. Sinclair, H. Clark, T. C. Hatton, P. H. Goodsir, C. H. Agar and J. Neville.

HOLY TRINITY, LYTTELTON. • The annual meeting of parishioners of Holy Trinity Church, Lytteltou, was held in the schoolroom on Thursday evening, the vicar, Canon Coatcs, presiding. There was a large attendance. The churchwardens' report and bal-ance-sheet showed that the receipts for the year had amounted to £447 2s lid a nd tho expenditure to £395 Os Bd, leaving a credit balauco of £52 2s 3d. A portion of tho balance was to be paid to the cemetery maintenance fund, and tho remainder would be required for work at the vicarage in connection with the municipal drainage scheme. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following church officers were elected:—Churchwardens, Messrs \\. G. Shepheard and G. A. Lewin; yestry, Dr Upham and Messrs E. R. Vicker'mau, E. G. Pago, J. Fumeaux,' W. W. Stow, J. E. A. Thompson, G. Cowan, A. P. Brydges-Jones, S. Tredennick and F. Sutton; auditors, Messrs M. Westell and J. T. Brice., Refreshments were handed round,

and a short musical programme wa«" given. HINDS. The annual meeting of parishioners of the Hinds cure was held in th» Hinds schoolroom on Wednesday evening. The meeting afforded an opportunity of saying good-bye to the. Rot H. G. Blackburne, and extending a welcome to the new vicar, the Rev J.' H. Rogers, and the room was well filled. The vicar presided. The following officers were appointed:—Vicar's warden, Mr J. Studholme ; people's warden, Mr L. de C. Malet; district treasurer, Mr J.Cook; local wardens, Messrs C. Chisnall and G. Tilson, jiin. Mr Rogers, the new vicar, received a hearty welcome, and gave a shor* address. • Votes of thanks to all church workers were passed, and \ after refreshments had been, handed round, th« meeting terminated.
