DANGEROUS RAILWAY CROSSING.
TO' THE EDITOR. Sir,—l shall esteem it a- great favont if you will allow me through your valuable column® to draw attention to the inconvenience caused, by the blockading of our streets by the Railway Department’s rolling-stock. Lately it has become a common occurrence for the public to be detained for some considerable time by the .stoppage of trains at Selwym Street crossing. Only to-day a goods train was drawn up at this place and left to obstruct street traffic for fifteen minutes or more. Not only ir> this an inconvenience, but a danger, because small children going to and from school have to cross the railway at this point, and, from my observation, they are cultivating a habit of playing in between the trucks. The deail of some unfortunate child through thin mbit might awaken the authorities to their duty towards the public; but let us hope this will not be the case. I trust, however, that this letter may have some effect towards removing the danger and inconvenience.—l am, etc., \SELWYN STREET.
