ROBERT BLATCHFORD ON DEFENCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l only ask for a small space to reply to the letter of Mr T. R. Cook on the above. Mr Cook is very careful to quote from one article of Mr Blatehford’s and at the same time to leave out his article bearing on the subject which is at present before the people of the British Empire. ‘That subject is “The necessity of maintaining the two-standard power of the British Navy.” Mr Blatchford’s protests against the injustices which are at present rampant in tho British Isles, and. the unequal distribution of wealth there, are not being discussed at present. What we are discussing is tho necessity of maintaining the naval supremacy of Great Britain. Mr Blatchford is as emphatic on that point as the most aggressive Jingo in Great Britain, and if Dir Cook has studied his writings he ought to he aware of this without my having to tell him of it.— I am, etc., COMMON-SENSfe,
