HARBOUR BOARD ELECTIONS.
LYTTELTON. The members of tlie Akaroa and Mount Herbert County Councils met at Duvauckello’s on Monday to elect a representative on the Lyttelton Harbour Board. Mr J. D. Bruce, chairman of the Akaroa Council, presided. Mr James Hay and Mr J . E. Davenport wero nominated, Mr Hay’s nominator stating that he ivas an opponent of the canal scheme, and Mr Hay was elected. Mr G. Laurenson, M.P., has been nominated by tho Government as its representative on the Lyttelton Haibour Board. The Ashley County having failed to appoint a member, the vacancy has to be filled by tlie Government. Mr F. Horrell has been recommended for the appointment. [Per Press Association,] AUCKLAND, February 9. Tho new Auckland Harbour Board consists of the Hon E. Mitchelson, Messrs H. L. Heather, T. H. Gunson, J. J. Craig, H. M. Smeeton, W. E. Hutchison, A. J. Entrican, A. Keyes, G. N. Basloy, J. B. M’Farlane, \\. J. Napier and J. K. Kneen and Captain M’Konzie. Of these, Messrs Gunson, Craig and Smeeton aro now members. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 9. At the Harbour Board election yesterday Messrs Marly and Thomson, tno sitting members, were defeated by Messrs Wilkinson and M’Cluggage. Mr Thomson was tho only opponent on tho old Board to the improvement scheme. Tlio new members both favour a progressive policy.
