THE PORT CHALMERS COLLISION.

A CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, May 13. At the Port Chalmers Police Court to-day Joseph Coddoi, fisherman, was charged with having committed manslaughter on April 18 by causing tho death of Alexander Edgar M'Phee, Alfred M'Phee, William Mothers and Robert Slater. Tho charge was the. result of a collision between the steamer Lady Roberts and the launch Matakana, in the lower harbour. Evidence o:i the linos of that given at the magisterial inquiry was given by Captain Cashman (Lady Roberts). Captain Gardner, Richard Morgan (engineer of the Lady Roberts), James Daley, Maitland Hector Peter and Ernest Haslett Birchall, after which the hearing was adjourned until Tuesday next.
