PERSONAL.

Mr Alfred Curtis, of Molesworth Street, Wellington, died last Saturday, aged sixty-eight. He arrived in Wellington when he was only four months old, and almost the whole of his lifetime was passed in that city. When he firstlived in Tinakori Road that Quarter was covered with Lush. He was in business for many years en Lambton Quay, and afterwards lie filled a position on the commercial staff of the old "Evening Press." Wayward and A. E. Kernot. of Wellington, Mr H. B. Watson (Wanganui) and Mr A. Berwin (Hamburg), arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning. Mr Justice Williams and Mr Justice Denniston arrived from Wellington by the Maori yesterday. v Dr Imies and Captain Bindon were passengers from Wellington yesterday morning by the s.s Maori.. Mr J. A. Gilruth, Chief Government Veterinarian, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Among the arrivals in Christchurch yesterday were:—Mr A. Bond (Hororata), Air Thomas Blakeley (Rakaia), Mr D. A. Tolly (Adelaide), Mr G. H. Neale (Auckland), Mr A. E. Hart (Ashbuiion), Mr Hamish M'Lean (Mount Hutt), Mr G. Rutherford (Balethorpe), Mr G. W. Bassett (Burnt Hill) and Mr T. Milne (Dunedin).

Captain Bone. Marine Superintendent for the New Zealand Shipping Company, was a passenger for Wellington by the, Maori yesterday evening. Mr C. H. Holds-worth, general manager of the Union Steamship Company, left for Wellington last night Ly the Maori.

The Rev E. Eliot Chambers, vicar of West Lyttelton. is to leave to-morrow for the North Island. He will return in a fortninht's time. It is.Mr Cham-

bers's intention to pay a "visit to Ergland later.

Mr F. K. Reeves, Wellington " Post," is visiting Christchurch. He will leave for Dunedin to-day.
