THE LATE SIR JOHN HALL.
At a meeting of tho New Brighton School Committee held on Wednesday, the chairman referred to the death of Sir John Hall, and moved—" That tho New Brighton School Committee desires to place on record its deep rogrot at the death of Sir John Hall, and that the members of tho committee wish to convey their sympathy to the friends on their bereavement." Tho motion was carried in silence, members standing. A meeting of the committee having control of the • Sir John Hall commemoration fund was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. The Mayor, Mr G. Payling, presided. The secretary (Mr E. J. Righton) rimported the result of promised contributions. Mr Kidson, the sculptor to whom has been entrusted the work of making the bust, of the Into Mayor, was in attendance, and stated that «.-jio clay model sketch was nearly completed, and that it was desirable to have the model inspected by the committee at an early date. The secretary was instructed to interview likely contributors who had been overlooked in the previous canvass, and to have the list of contributors published at an early date.
