DEATH OF JENNY LIND’S HUSBAND. United Proaa Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, February 25. Tho death is announced of Otto Goldschmidt, Jenny Lind’s husband. (Otto Goldschmidt was born at Hamburg in 1829. In 1852 ho married tho famous singer, Miss Jenny Lind, who died in ISB7. Herr Goldschmidt held a high position in the mheical world; and in collaboration with Sir W. Sterndale Bonnet, edited “ The Choral© Book for England.” He was also known as a composer, and amongst other works ho produced tho oratorio “Ruth.”) MR JOHN TINLINE. [Per Press Association.] NELSON, February 26. The death is announced of Mr John TinJine, pioneer merchant, surveyor and explorer, aged eighty-seven. J. C. GOODFELLOW. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 26. A private cablegram announces the death at Dalkeith, Scotland, of Mr Joshua C. Gooct follow, aged seventyeight years. Mr Goodfellow, who was well-known in Wellington, was on a visit to relatives in Scotland. He first came to New Zealand in the very early days, and he resided in the colony for about half a century, with two or three breaks to enable, him to visit the Old Country. Before he retired from active work as a contractor Mr Goodfeliow built the Post Office at Dunedin, laid a section of Uie Lawrence Railway, and completed several other largo contracts in various parts of the colony-, including Wellington.
