THE VOLUNTEERS

The weekly 7 parade of No. 7 Company Gar ison Artillery Volunteers was hold at Lyttelton on Wednesday evening. There was a very good muster under •Lieutenant Tosswill. Captain J. ; T. Brice, divisional pay 7 and quartermaster, was present. Stalf-Sergeant-Majo-r Burbery 7 , R.N.Z.A., gave a lecture on camp duties, and on the points counting for the challenge shield given by tile Government as a prize for g-ne-ral effi:ienoy. A letter was ; eceived from Mr G. F. Whiteside, • stating that, under the circumstances, be could not take up the position of captain, to which he was recently elected by the company 7. It was announced that a daylight parade of the company would be held on Saturday, February ( J. -After parade a smoke concert was held in the erdedy-room. Represent® iV's of No. 5 company were present, and a very pleasant time was spent.
