CRICKET.
The seventeenth annual meeting of the Veterans’ Cricket Club was held on Thursday evening. The president Mr E. Cuthbert, presided. The annual balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £1 13s lid, was , presented and adopted. The following officers were elected President and treasurer, Mr E. Cuthbert; vice-presidents, Messrs H. D. Carter and H. B. Lane; secretary, Mr T. N. Russell; committee', Messrs Dawe, Dann, Lavcry, M’Nae, Turner and Washer. The secretary reported that eighteen matches had been played, twelve of which had been won. Messrs James Jndeou, W. H. Day and James Prebble were elected members of the club. The' opening club match between sides to he, chosen by, Messrs Goring and Turner was arranged to b© pjayed on Thursday, October 4. The annual meeting of the Lees ton Cricket Club was held in the; orderly room on. Wednesday. Mr T. Flannery occupied the chair, and there w-as a fair attendance. The following officers were ■elected: —Patron, Mr R. H. Rhodes, M.H.'R.; president, Mr W., G. Luun; vice-presidents, Dr Gasset, Messrs H. H. Loughnan, F. Lill, J., M’Carmack, J. W. Hammond and C. J. Taylor; sectary and treasurer, Mr E. Hammond; captain, Mr H. H. Hammond; vice-cap-tain, Dr Withers; general committee, Messrs N. Herron., R. Frisk, J. Halliday, S. Wright, F. Lill and E. Hammond ; selector, Mr IT. H. Hammond. A number of trophies, which were won during last season, were presented. Mils''. Henxm was ■'appointed the club’s delegate to the Association. It was decided that the opening day should be Saturday, September 29.
