PERSONAL.

Mr W. 0. Rutherford (Montrose) loft Christchurch by the north train yesterday, and Mr G. Rutherford (Dalethorpe) was a passenger from the city by the Springfield train. Mr J. Mating (Geraldine), Mr C. E. Shallcrass (Timaru) and Mr W. E Foater went south by the second express train yesterday. • Mr and Mrs F. Shipman (Sydney) and Mr Eugene Langier (Dunedin) were among the arrivals in Christchurch yesterday. Mr G. Lewis, M.H.R., arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Rotomahaua yesterday morning. Messrs G. G. Stead, P. Campbell, J. W. Turner, E. T. Matson and F. M. Franks were passengers for Sydney by the s.s. Wimmera last evening. The Rev E. Tait left for Dunedin by the s.s. Manuka yesterday.

Among the passengers for Wellington by the s.s. Rotoraahana yesterday evening wore Dr Ball and Messrs A. Kaye, J. A. Frostick and L. Tripp. Messrs I. Gibb, J. R. Duncan, J. E, Hancock and J. B. Carter left for Wellington by the s.s. Wimmera yesterday "evening. Colonel and Mrs Birkenshaw, principals of the Salvation Army Federal Training Garrison, arrived by the first express last, night, and will conduct special revival services in the Victoria Street hall to-morrow and on Monday.

Mr R. H. Pope of the Education Department, who has been in Christchurch in connection with the Burnham Inquiry, will go to Dunedin by the early-express to-day, on departmental business.

Mr G. M. Burlinson, manager of the State Farm, Weraroa, who lias been discharging Mr Arohey’s duties at Burnham during the Industrial School Inquiry, went north by the Rctomahana last evening, and will return for Tuesday, when the Commission will resume sitting.
