THE NEW SOUTH WALES LIQUOR BILL.

CONCESSIONS AND AMENDMENTS. United Press Association—By Btectrio Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 26. The question of majority rule involved in the Liquor Bill was hotly attacked, and the Government compromised by reducing the two-thirds majority to three-fifths, and reducing the percentage- of electors required to vote from fifty to thirty. The strenuous opposition to the measure generally suddenly dropped last night, it being indicated that some compact had been made. This was sprung on the House by the Attorney-General stating that it was intended to increase the notice to dispossessed licensees from three years to eight years. An amendment to this 'effect was subsequently carried by 62 to 7. The amendment was accepted by the supporters of tho Bill, in the belief that the measure was doomed otherwise. THE COMMITTEE STAGE. SYDNEY, October 26. After an all-night sifting, the Legislative Assembly passed the Liquor Bill through Committee. (Received October 26, 4.33 p.m.) New clauses were added to the Liquor Bill providing that the measure should come into, force on January 1, 1906, guarding against " faked " leases, and fixing the minimum license fee at £lO arid the maximum at £IOO.
