Charles Stuart galloped a mile and a quarter in 2miu 2tseo. Jdaniapoto heat Thackeray over a mile in Imin 50sec. Lord Fitzioy and Jargoon galloped six furlongs in Imin 21scc. Emir beat Canteen over a mile and three furlongs in 2min 33seo. Roller covered a mile in Imin 52sec. Blue Spec and Billingsgate were associated over a mile on the tan, which they completed iu Imin E4sec. The latest betting on the Melbourne Cup— Blue Spec has been backed to win £-1000, and is now at 16 to 1; Maniapoto is iu demand at 10 to 1; Tartan and Warroo are equal favourites at 8 to 1 each; Emir 12 to X; Torah, Marvel Loch, G-.adsome and Soot Free 14 to 1 each. The racehorses Blythemaid, Kirriemuir, Cannie Chiel, Signalman, Xvanoff, Pas Soul, Grand Poplar, Veneer, St Joe, So.ution and Handsome Rose arrived hy the s.a. Mararoa from Wellington yesterday morning'.
