ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
Ati Rangiora on Saturday morning, a horse in Mr R. Watson’s butcher’s cart, driven by his son, was startled by the Salvation Army Baud, and bolted along Albert Street. In turning towards the railway station yard, a wheel collided with ‘the street corner post, and' the cart capsized. The driver escaped with a shaking and bruises, although the top of the cart came off and fell on him. The cart had a splashboard broken, but the horse was uninjured. Some damage was done to a quantity of meat which fell out of the cart. Later in the morning the horse again bolted in Ivory Street, and in rounding the corner into Buckham Street the cart was again overturned, and had the other splashboard broken. Mr Watson’s brother, Mr Leo Watson, who was driving, had one of Ids legs severely injured. The lad who was driving when the first accident occurred was also on the cart, and he again escaped with a shaking and a few more bruises.
