EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

The total for the twenty-fifth .week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition is 2421, bringing the grand aggregate up to 43,550 eggs, for which the Association has bean' receiving Is per dozen. The weekly average now stands at 24.21. The highest laying for the week is 39, returned by Mr Ashworth’s Silver Wyandottes, from Alexandra. The next highest is the Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s pen, with 36. The'order of merit in the . aggregate is as : follows: —Mr Leger’s White Leghorns, from Levin, 720; Mr Brooks’s White Leghorns, from South Australia, 668; _Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s White Leghorns, 616; Mr. Hockey’s Brown Leghorns, from Nelson, 603.
