An inquiry has been held with respect to the entries of several prizewinners in the recent Timani-Ghrist-church Road Race, and the referee, Mr W. E. Thompson, has given his decision, which reads as follows :—“ I have to report that I have gone into the question of the entry forms of several of the placed men in the Dunlop Timaru-Christchui-ch Road Race, and after due consideration of the evidence collected and submitted to the handicappors, I have decided that the judges’ decision should bo upheld, as the conditions printed on the entry forms are so worded a-s to be possible of misconstruction from what was originally intended. Had it not been for’ this ambiguous reading of the entry forms used, the incomplete entry forms sent in by several competitors would undoubtedly have caused disqualification.” The result of Mr Thompson's decision,is that O’Connor retains the prises presented to him on Saturday evening. • A number of the Timaru friends of ,T. Arnst have opened subscription lists to raise a fund to send him to Australia, to take part in the Dunlop road races.
