HOCKEY.
THURSDAY COMPETITION. The weather was -warm for the con» tinuation of the Canterbury Hockey Association’s (Thursday games. Both senior matches were played out of town, Drapers going to Lyttelton and Sydenham A to Rangiora. Lancaster Park, where four junior fixtures were played, was' in pretty good order, 1 _ and the double attraction of a visiting ladies’ team from Akaroa drew a fair number of spectators. Following ara the results of the different games> SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP, LYTTELTON v. DRAPERS, This game was played .at Lyt* telton, . and resulted in a win! for the home team by two goals, scored by G. Luxton and J. Wilson, to nil. The uneven nature of the ground was against a good display of hockey, and although some nice form was shown by the forwards and halves on both sides, the majority of the play consisted of hard hitting. For thd. winners, _Mahar brothers, Ching, Cropp, ' Vangioni and the scorers were prominent, and for Drapers, Ritchie, M’Lelland and Simpson. (forwards), Clark® and Edwards (halves]) and Hall .and Woods, in the back division played well. Mr G. Ford was referee., SYDENHAM A. v. RANGIORA. This match was played at Eangiora, and resulted in a win for Sydenham by two goals to nil. Free scored both, goals for the winners, who had by far the better of the game throughout, the country team only having one shot of any importance. .Mr E. Ellyett was referee. .. ■ JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. Hardware met Kaiapoi at Lancaster Park, and an interesting game resulted, in a win for the former by, two goals, scored by R. Congreve and Procter, to nil. Mr F. Saunders was referee. Addington A: defeated Drapers B at Lancaster Park by four goals, scored by M’Cracken, Mansfield, Sharman and Mitchell, to one, shot by Pimm. Mr J. E. Cooper was referee. Sydenham B easily defeated Addington B at Sydenham P" "k by five goals to nil. -The following scored:-—Holland (tw r o), Kirk, Aitchison and Alexander, Mr H. Empsoh was referee. . ] Farmers B made a good , stand against Rangioi’a at Lancaster Park, the country team winning by two goals, scored by Luxton and Carew, to one, shot by Mansfield. Mr W. Mit- • chell was referee. Lyttelton won their ; gam© against . Sydenham A by two goals, shot by Morris and Grain, to one, scored by. Forward. Mr. Ih Allison was refereeLADIES’ MATCH. The Akaroa ladies played , a match with the Kaiwaru ladies at Lancaster Park yesterday afternoon, and an interesting game resulted in a win for Akaroa by tw’o goals to one.
