MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The quarterly summoned meeting of the Queen’s Own, No. 36, P.A., of New Zealand, was held on Monday night, in the Lodge room, Worcester Street. Bro B. Jones, W.M., presided, and a fair number of members was present. Bro J. King,was elected as J. E. to fill a vacancy, and an assistant secretary was appointed for quarter nights. The receipts amounted to about £SO. Accounts for £45 were passed for payment. The secretary reported that four members ©wore reported on the sick fund during the month, one of whom had since declared off. The D.D.M., Bro Dailey, was present, and presented to Bro James Hannon, on behalf of the Now South Wales Constitution a D.D.M. jewel for past services. Bro Hannan suitably replied. A motion was carried requesting the New Zealand Grand Council to appoint a Grand Lodge representative for Canterbury. There was a satisfactory attendance at the quarterly meeting of the Loyal Gust Lodge of Oddfellows on Tuesday evening. The District Officers paid an official visit, hut the Provl G.M., Bro J. Fitzpatrick,, was unable, through illness, to bo present. Bro F. Early was elected N.G., Bro L. Gilbert V.G., Bro C. Early E.S.. and Bro H. Saundercook took the Grand Master’s chair. The officers were installed by D.P.G.M. Kelcher. The District Officers, and also P.P.G.H. Bro C. W. Bell heartily congratulated the Lodge on the excellent way in which the lodge business was conducted, and also at the fact of all available funds being profitably invested. Harmony and refreshments passed away an hour after the Lodge closed.
