AMUSEMENTS.

CANTERBURY HALL. Large as it is, the seating accommodation at the Canterbury Hall was not sufficient for the audience which greeted the show of West’s Pictures and the entertainment of the Breseians last evening, and many people had to be content with a small space for standing. The pictures which have won the appreciation of audiences throughout the earlier part of the week were again received with favourable notice, and a new series, depicting the life of Napoleon, was well shown. The Brescians repeated their enjoyable performance successfully, all the varied numbers being well received. Tire season will close to-morrow, when there will he a matinee performance at 2.30 p.m., and the final performance at 7.30 p.m. THEATRE ROYAL. The popularity of the variety stage is apparently a fixed quantity, for the audience which greeted the members of Mr Dix’s New Gaiety Company last evening was a very large one. The “star” dancing turn of the Bicknell’s was again an unqualified success. The “Gaiety Six” provided an excellent little entertainment, and the concert given by the Ibson Family was a musical feast. Paul Kinko’s juggling, the clever mimicry of Messrs Hawthorne and Wilson, and the turns of the remaining members of tho company, made up a programme that was appreciatively received. _ The performance will bo repeated this evening.

OPERA HOUSE. In spite of the abundance of “ shows*” in the town, Fuller’s Entertainers continue to hold their own at the Opera House, and their performance last evening drew an audience of satisfactorily largo dimension. The programme current this week has had a very well deserved acceptance, each of the artists engaged receiving the favourable notice of the audience. COLOSSEUM. | The Skating Rink was well patronised yesterday, each of its sessions attracting numerous skaters, who appeared to find pleasure in their incessant jouneyings round the smooth 'floor.
