ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN. Tho ordinary meeting of the Lincoln, Road Board was held on April 3; present—. Messrs 18. Paterson (chairman), E. O’Rourke, J. J. M’Carthy and G. Rennie. The Valuer-General wrote stating that the sum of £oo 13s 3d, subsidy on rates, was how payable. Messrs M’Drury and Pickering interviewed the Board in reference to the enlargement of a culvert on Bell s Road, and suggested a two-feet concrete pipe in place of the small wooden culvert. The suggestion was agreed to. The clerk’s report on the district drains was unfavourable to the contractors, and after discussion, it was decided to grant a progress payment to the men. Twelve applications were received for working the Board’s horses, and that of Mr AVornall was accepted. The clerk was instructed to confer with Mr Peryman relative to the renewal of damaged flood-gates. Accounts for £SO 3s 3d were passed for payment. MOUNT HUTT. The monthly meeting of the Mount Hutt Road Board was held on April 3 ; present —Messrs Morgan (presiding), Dickie, ' Orr and Murray. The clerk was authorised to have the necessary repairs made on the Alford Sorest and Blackford Roads, and also to make arrangements for the repair of tho road to the properties of Messrs Steele and Turnbull. A letter was received from tho Ashburton County Council stating that the Mount Harding channel would bo cleared as required, -but that the Council was not responsible for the maintenance of the Springfield channel. The South Rakaia Board wrote regarding shingling tho Boundary Hoad beyond the Rakaia boundary, and it was agreed to .have this work done when the rest of the road had been shingled. Tho Ashburton Comity Council also wrote asking the Board to appoint- a day for holding a meeting of ratepayers to discuss the system of rating for water-supply purposes. Tho matter was left in the hands of the chairman and clerk to arrange. Mr R. Middleton’s tender for shingling the Chertsey Road, at Is 6d per yard, was accepted. Accounts amounting to £24 10s lOd were passed for payment.
