CYCLING.
A meeting of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand League of Wheelmen was held on Wednesday evening; present—Messrs J. Kennedy (in the chair, Batchelor, Nordcn and Goodman. The Marshland Club wrote, referring to a defaulting member; and the club was informed) that it must communicate with the Sports Protection Association direct. The Papanui Amateur Cycling Club was affiliated to the League. A cycle road race was run on Thursday, from Temuka to Waimate, under good conditions of road and weather. Thirty-three ptarted from Temuka, but fire fell out before reaching Tima.ru. Nine more dropped out between Timaru and St Andrews. J. Trumper (12min) won the race, D. Taehen making the fastest time (Ihr 41min 5 2-ssec). All but one of those who finished got through within two hours. The distance was about thirty-nine miles.
