ENTERTAINMENTS.

The anniversary of the Lyttelton Presbyterian Church was celebrated on Wednesday night by a lea-meet-ing and concert, m the Oddfellows' Hall, Winchester Street. Tho ladies of Uie. congregation tended amplyprovided table-s at the tea, and there was a numerous audience at the concert, at, tvliich the Rev J. Mackenzie, -moderator of tho Lyttelton charge, presided. Most of the items on a very good programme -were rendered by members of the choir of St Andrew's Church, Christchurch, who kindly gave their services for the occasion. Hongp, Scottish and English, wore sung by Mrs Gilmoie, Misses Manks, Harper, Bruce a.nd Kirk, and Mr Bills; glees and choruses were sung by the St Andrew's choir; pianoforte accompanimente were played by Miss Hyndman and Mr R. N. Kenaud, and ijba latter act-e-rl as conductor. Mr liiordan's orchestra, played a selection at the end of the programme. An enjoyable Scotch concert was given lafi-fc evening in St Andrew's Schoolroom by members of St Andrew's choir and other?. The entertainment, was excellent throughout, and most of tho performers were heartily encored. The programme, which was a lengthy one, comprised songs, recitations and choruses by the. choir. Mre Kennedy sang "Castles in the Air" and " The Old Scotch Songs," for both of which she was encored. Mr Bills sang "The, M'Gr-egors' Gathering'' and " Far Awa\" and both were highly appreciated by (lie audience. Mips Bruce contributed several songs very pleasingly, giving "The Hundred Pipers" and "My Heather HilLs," agisted by the choir. " Miss Kirk also sang several Scotch songs. Mr Pickcn sang "Scots Wha- Hao" and "The Battle of Stirling," -and recitations were contributed by Messrs Ton-ens and Johnston. The choir, under the conductorship of Mr Renaud. added to the enjoyment of the programme with- " Charlie is My Darling," " The Land of the Leal " and " Auld Lang Syne.'' Most of the accompaniments were played by Miss Hindma-n and Mr Renaud. Tho Rev J. Mackenzie' thanked all thosa that had assisted in the entertainment, and the singing of "God Save the King" brought the entertainment to a conclusion. On Wednesday.evening c benefit concert was tendered to Mr T. Roberts in StPaul's Schoolroom, Papanui. There was a largo attendance, and all the items on the, programme were well received. Items were contributed by Misses Schumacher, Woodham, M'Nulty," Wilson, Shepherd and Samuel, and Messrs Wilson, Blumsky, Woodham, M'Nulty and O'Callaghan. The concert concluded, with a- faroo entitled "St James's Hospital.''
