ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[Pek Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 11. ' Frederick Derosa, an old resident of the Hurt, and a veteran of Lucknow, Inkerman and Sebastopol, died suddenly in the. city this afternoon. A jockey named Radcliff, who livas, in “Linwood, was admitted to the Hospital yesterday, 1 suffering from a sprained wrist and other injuries he sustained by being thrown from a horse. INQUEST. An inquest was held at the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, before Mr W. R. Haselden, District Coroner, and a jury of six, to inquire into the death of Mrs Mary Essaxy, who had died suddenly, early on Thursday morning. Sophia Illingsworth stated that the deceased, a woman of sixty-three years, had been in apparent good health until Wednesday night, when she had complained of headache. On Thursday morning, at 9 a.m., witness found her dead. Deceased hifd been addicted to drink when she had money. William Frazer and Constable Moore also gave evidence. Dr C. H. Upham stated that he had been called to see deceased at 9.30, on Thursday morning, and had found her dead. Death appeared to have been due to apoplexy. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with th© medical evidence.
