Orr and Owen opened South Canterbury's second innings at 4.35 p.m., Vernon bowling from th© north end. With five on tho board Orr hit- Howell to leg, and hesitating to respond to his partner’s call was run out s—l—l. Barron joined Owen and lifted his second ball from Howell out of the ground, bringing ten up. With the score unaltered Owen was splendidly caught at fine slip by OHivier, off Vernon. 11—2—0. White partnered Barron, and was missed in th© slips off his f-econd ball. With 17 on the board White gave another chance in the slips, and OHivier brought off another fino catch. 17—3 —1. Macdonald filled. the vacancy, and Barron scoring a four and two singjes, the scores were equal.
