Evidence was taken, in Wellington! today on Commission for the King's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice, m the case. Kerry v. Underwriters at Lloyd's, a claim for insurances on the yacht Ariadne, which was wrecked under sensational circumstances near Oamaru, a couple of Years ago. Mr J. A. Kinsella. the late Dairy Commissioner, was to-day presented by the Mayor, on behalf of the dairying section of tho" Produce Exporters! Association, with an illuminated address, prior to 'his do-; parturo to the Transvaal. Speaking at a dinner given to'him last night, Mr Kinsella said that he had not received the support ho was entitled to. Other countries were combining scientific investigation in dairying. So far as he could see, New Zealand was not much further ahead in scientific work than on the day the first expert came to the country. '

At the Magistrate's Court, to-day, Ernes* Simson brought a. claim for £3O against T. G. M'Carthy, brewer, O. M'Ardle and W. Corby, and F. Smith, publican. Plaintiff alleged that he had been, employed by .defendants to do certain work in connection with the inquiry into the validity of the Newtown local option poll, and that in addition to a weekly sum he was to be paid a bonus of £3O 'if the poll was declared void. The defence was a repudiation of any such agreement. At the suggestion iof the Magistrate the: case was adjourned' to permit of an arrangement being come to between the parties.
