ROAD BOARDS.

AVON. The monthly meeting of the Avon Road Board was held on Monday; present— Messrs Morgan, Dunlop, Cleland, Parish and Walter. Mr Morgan was elected chairman for the ensuing! year. It was decided that a ratepayer on the Lower Styx Road should be allowed £2 to keep the road to his property in order for twelve months. A deputation from ratepayers on Preston's Road waited on the Board, asking that the footpaths on the soutli side of the road should be put in hand as soon as possible. Mr Walter, -the Chairman and the Clerk were deputed to inspect the road and report to the next meeting. Mr Morgan was appointed to represent the Board at the conference of local bodies regarding the small birds' nuisance. The Clerk was instructed to write to the City Council asking it to have the work of replacing the bridgo on Hill's Road with a concrete culvert put in hand as soon as possible. It was decided to have 200yds of stripping. l ! placed on Walter's Road to widen the road. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Riccarton Road Board asking it to provide a better light on the North Road School Corner. It was resolved that all ratepayers in arrears with rates should be given seven days' notice to pay-up-; after that time legal proceedings would, be taken. WEST EYRETON. The monthly meeting of the West Eyreton Itoad Board was held on May 1; present— Messrs Hunter (chairman), Chapman and Horrell. The Surveyor's report was approved. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Accounts amounting to £29 19s were passed for payment. Messrs Hunter, Horrell, Moderate and Smith were present at the annual meeting. Mr Adam Hunter was elected chairman for the ensuing term. It was resolved that applications should be invited for a horse, cart and driver at the rate- of £2 per week, with the use of cottage and yard. The Surveyor was directed to invite tenders for repairs to Boyd's -Road and North -Eyre Road at the Horrelville Siding.'
