(Columbia won the last two contests for the America Cup. Reliance has lately been •built with the. object of competing against Shamrock 111., hut as she is apparently inferior to Columbia she may give place to the former winner, as was the case in 1901, when Defender, which was specially built for the racej was withdrawn in favour of Columbia.)
