BOROUGH COUNCILS.
SUMNER. ■ The Sumner Borough Council met on Tuesday ; present the Mavor (Mr W. Rollitt) and 'OouiMiHora BraAury, ll'lingworth, Jennings, Johnston, Wa-lla.ce and AVrenn. The ■ Colonial Treasurer wrote stating that £3500 for the drainage loan would be placed to the Council's credit upon application for the 'mm. The- Treasurer's statement showed:—Receipts, £l4 3s 3d; debit balance at bank, £ls Qs 8d ; accounts passed for payment, £2O 10s. The following committees were set up : —Works, Councillors Illingworth, Wallace, and Wrenn ; Finance, Councillors Bradbury, Jennings and Johnston ; Library, Councillors Bradbury, Wallace, and Mi"H. Ni Strong. The engineer was instructed to have the plans and speci'fications for the drainage scheme ready , and presented at the next meeting. A vote of thanks was passed to the members of the old Council at the close of the meeting. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr J. Carter, Borough Inspector, upon his late bereavement through the death of his wife.
