AUSTRALIAN FINANCES.
AN AUSTRALIAN STATESMAN'S VIEWS.
United Press.'Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.
MELBOURNE, April 23,
Mr B. R. Wise, tho New South Wales Attorney-General, has returned from London. On being interviewed, he said it seemed to him that the attack on Australian credit was nob inspired so much by mistrust of Australian finances as dislike of its politics. "Australia, had better hold off the money market for the. present. There was only a certain amount available for investment, aavd we could not force investors to lend us their money if they did not want to. Heavy demands for South Africa had left very little money for colonial loans. What was wanted was an improvement in our knowledge of each other. This could bs done by Parliament cheapening the means of communication. A cable service which would allow Press messages to be sent between England and Australia, at one penny a woi'd would give us a better understanding of events and representation of views." '
