FARMERS’ UNION.

TEMPLETON-BRANCH. The • .annual' meeting of the Templeton branch-'"of the ■ New Zealand Tanners’ Union, was held in the library, on April 14. ' There, 1 was a fair attendance, Mr D. Jones presiding/- The' Chairman, gave a re-, sumo of ■ the' work of the Union during the year, and was accorded a vote of, thanks. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £l4 19s 6d, and the expenditure £l3 7s 3d, leaving a credit balance of £1 12s 3d. The balance-sheet was- adopted. It was decided that Mr Lewis, M.H.R., should be asked to support the Bill to be introduced into Parliament next session by Mr Kirkbride, M.H.R., on the lines of the. Ontario Insurance Act. A vote of thanks,, was accorded the retiring officers. The election of officers resulted as follow:—Chairman, Mr D. Jones; treasurer, Mr M’Crostie j secretary, Mr 0. Benjamin • commit-, tee, Messrs. F. Maddison, A. J. Bell, W. Early, F. J. Clarke, T. Bailey, W.-'Giiber-, thoi-po, G. Witty, J. Neill, P. Manion, W. Armstrong, S . J. Bailey, R. 1 Hack and G. Manghn; delegate to t®i Executive of the North Canterbury district, Mr- Jones. It was decided that the annual subscription should be five shillings, workmen’s subscriptions to be , one shilling. It was resolved to hold a conference- and social on May 8. The Sec- ; retary was instructed to write to Messrs Lewis, Witty and Rhodes,' M.H.R.’s,, and Leadley and Hubbard, yoking them to ad- , dress the meeting. Committees were ap-. pointed for carrying out- the various details.-
