TIMARU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday, Snd was well attended. Leave of absence was given to Messrs R. and K. Keliand, who arc paying a. visit to the Old Country. Correspondence was read between this and the Christchurch Associations respecting fixed show dares, and much rath-faction was expressed at the Christchurch Association expressing its willingness to consider tile matter favourably if the Canterbury Jockey Chib can fall in with the idea. The President and vice-president- (Messrs W. Hay and D. Grant) were appointed delegates to a 'Confcrcncfc of South Island Associations on the subject, the date of which will bs fixed by the Christchurch Association. Tha President, Viee.-presidont and Messrs M’Larcn, Parry, Orbell and Waring were appointed a Ground Committee. The Association has £3OO on* deposit, and the Ground Committee was requested to report at .the June, meeting on further improvements to the grounds, and advise whether this money should be expended on Additional slied accommodation or used to pay off some of the debentures current for buildings already erected. It was decided not to hold an autumn 1 horse show this year, unless strong representations are made in- favour of one by owners of horses; Three persons resigned their membership of the Association., and twenty-eight new members were elected.
