[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Dee. 16. 1 An old railway naaned Thomas t ?ay had both fe/t cut off and both aims nangled by a, locomotive this morning. He tras cleaning the points at Thorndon station, and to avoid a cloud of dust turned his back to it and shut his eyes, nob notic-i ing a locomotive coming. Ho -was knocked down and run over. His condition is criti- ’ ' INVERCARGILL, Dec. 16. Word has been received that a Winton i, settler, E. Edwards, and his son have been drowned iii the Orcti Elver. They were cuit rabbiting, and camped on an island. A flood came down during the night, and . washed their tent away. The bodies have not yet been recovered. Edwards leaves a largo family-
