MARKET REPORTS.

ALDINGTON. Yardings of most classes of stock .at Addington yesterday were rather below late entries, but' the quality ou the whole was good. The attendance was large, including a number of pastoralists from various parts of Canterbury, who are in town for to-day's .wool sale. Entries for the.day comprised 4800 fat sheep, 1266 fat lambs, 4110 store sheep, 526 head of cattle and 317 pigs. Fat Cattle.—The entry of 208 head was mostly made up of cow beef, with a few pens of prima steers and heifers. The market.was decidedly weak at the opening ; it recovered as the sale progressed, and afc the close beef ruled at from 28s to 32s 6d per ICOIIi Prime heavy steers made £lO to £l2 13s, lighter £6' 12s 6d to £9, prime heifers £9 10s to £l2 ss, others £5 15s to £9. good cows £8 15s, and others £5 5s to £7 10s. Stouk and Dairy Cattle.—The yardings of both classes, though not large, included some really good sorts. Forward store cattle met a strong demand, and best daily cows sold well. Yearlings made £1 13s to £1 18s, fifteen to eighteen months' old cattle £2 7s' 6d to £3 2s 6d, two-year-old steers £5 15s, do heifers £4 2s 6d to £4 15s 6d, three-year-old steers (very forward) £8 10s, do heifers £5 7s 6d to £9 9s, and dry cows £1 10s to £4. Best dairy cows brought from £7 to £9 ss, and others 'from, £4 to £6 10s. Fat Sheep.—With the exception of two lines, the whole of the fat sheep were out of the wool, and on the whole the quality was good. There were, however, a few aged ewes, which had only had the lambs taken away from them that day, and they were therefore scarcely fit for human food without being kept for a time. The market for all sorts opened very well, but it dragged a little towards the middle, again, 'however, improving towards the close of the sale. The entry was cleared with the exception of a line of wethers which required topping off before they would be up to the freezing standard, and these were withdrawn at. 16s 7d. A feature of the market was Mr G. E. Rhodes's ' Down wethers, which took prizes at the recent shows, and these elicited keen competition, being eventually secured by Mr James Knight at prices ranging; from 26s 6d to 31s. A fair quantity of both wethers and ewes were taken for freezing. Wethers in the wool made 18s to 21s 3d, extra prime shorn wethers 24s 6d to 31s, freezers 17s to 20s 9d, and lighter 15s 6d to 16s 6d, best ewes in the wool 18s to 20s 3d, others 15s to 17s, best shorn ewes for freezing 16$ to 18s, extra to 20s 3d, and others 12s 5d to 15s. Prime shorn merino wethers 18s 6d. Amongst the pricipal sales were: For Mr G. E. Rhodes, Meadowbank, 64 Down wethers at 24s 6d to 31s; Mr S. Wilson, Papakaio, 45 wethers at 19s 3d to 20s Id, and ewes at 16s sd; Oakleigh estate, 74 wethers at 20s 2d, and 70 ewes at 17s 6d; Mr A. Birdling, Halswell, 65 wethers at 20s 6d; Mr J. Batty, Cairnbrae, 90 cross-bred wethers in the wool at 20s 2d to 20s 3d, and do maiden ewes at 21s ; Mr J. Sharp, Prebbleton, 73 wethers at 19s 3d to 20s, and 35 ewes at 14s lid to 16s 3d; Messrs Westcnra Bros.. Dunsandel, 61 wethers at 19s lid to 20s 3d ; Mr C. H. Willis, Southbridge, 30 wethers at 19s 2d, and 37 ewes at 16s 3d to 18s 9d ; Mr .M. J. Dixon, West Eyreton, 60 wethers at 17s 6d to 19s, and 33 ewes at 15s lOd ; Mr E. Richards, Rakaia, 120 wethers at 17s 5d to 19s 6d; Mr T. Richards, Rakaia, 56 wethers at 17s 3d to 19s 3d; Mr J. Sowden, Dunsandel, shorn merino wethers at 18 6d; Messrs Ensor Bros, Mount Grey, 40 wethers at 20s, and 117 ewes at 16s *9d to 17s sd; Mr G. F. Wright, Annat, 20 wethers at 17s Id, and 26 ewes at 15s 9d; Mr D. Greer, Harewood, 49 two-tooths at 18s 2d; Sir G. Clifford, Stonvhurst, 124 ewes at 16s to 20s 3d ; Mr N. M. Orbell, Waimate, 250 half and cross-bred ewes in the wool at 17s 2d to 20s 3d; Mr G. G. Holmes. Knocklyim, 56 ewes at 18s, and 187 maiden ewes afc 18s 8d ; Levels estate, 116 ewes at 16s to 18s 2d: Mr ,T. Allan, Waikari. 64 ewes at 17s to 17s 9d; Mr J.'W. Overton, Prebbleton,, 43 ewes at 16s lOd to 17s 6d ; Rev J. Ronaldson, Hororata, 45 ewes at 16s Id to 17s sd; Springbank estate. 46 ewes at 16s 2d to 17s 4d ; Mr C. N. Orbell, Timaru, 116 ewes at 16s 8d to 17s 3d; Mr J. Sowden,, Dunsandel, 54 ewes at 16s to 17s 3d; Mr B. Fowler, Yaldhurst, 34 ewes at 16s lid ; Mr W. Clinton, Darfield, 58 ewes at 15s lOd to 16s 8d; Mr J. Gillett, Springfield, 76 ewes at 13s lOd to 16s 4d; Mr R. C.

Dixon, East Eyreton, 110 ewes at 14s 6d to 16s Id ; Mr' J. Smith, Oust, 65 ewes at 15s 3d to 15s 6d.

Fat Lambs.—The entry comprised 1266, a few of which were very prime,, while there were also several unfinished lots. There was good competition for all prime consignments, and last week's rates were more than upheld. Exporters took 781 at 12s 8d to 15s 9d, and up to 16s 6d for extra prime. Butchers took the remaining 485 at lis to 15s 7d, and up to 16s 3d for extra good. Amongst the principal sales were: —For Mr A. Birdling, Hals-well, 55 at 16s 6d; Mr P. Manson, Weedons, 12 at 14s 9d to 16s 6d ; Cashmere estate, 155 at 15s to 16s 2d ; Mr G. Lwleman, Lakeside, 82 at 15s 6d; Mr J. Clothier, Kaiapoi, 35 at 14s 2d to 15s 6d ; Mr H. Gardiner, Irwell, 70 at 14s 4d to 15s 6d ; Mr H. Bennington,, Broaclfields, 50 at 14s 6d to 15s 4d; Mr G. Addington, Kirwee, 27 at 15s; 'Mr JM'Johnston, lloUeston, 14 at' 15s; Mr G. Butler, Sheffield, 35 at 14s 4d; Mr D. Dohrmaim, Bennetts, 71 at 14s. Stork Shef.v.—The yarding of over 4000 was a mixed one. All classes sold well. In shorn wethers 700 ma.de. 16s, 150 15s 4d, 218 15s 3d, ; 231 14s lOd, and little lots 12s 6dl to 14s Id. A lino of 77 mixed two-toot lis sold at lis' lOd. In hoggets 363 sold at lis 4d, and small lots at 6s 6tl to 10s 6d. In ewes in the wool with lambs, 332 brought 9s Bd, 128 8s sd, 140 7s Bd, and 124 9s 3d. In shorn do 140 made 9s Id, 102 10s, 128 8* sd, 114 9s 4d, and smaller lines 6s 6d to lis 6d, all counted ; merino ewes with lambs 6s 7d. Pigs.—All classes were in short supply, and the quality of the fats was not quite as good as usual. Competition for bacotiers was weak, but porkers sold well, and stores were hi' strong demand. Baconcrs made 40s to 555, tip to 65s for extra, averaging 4|d per lb ; porkers, 28s to 395, averaging s|d per lb; large stores, 23s to 335, smaller 14s to 20s; suckers, 10s to 13s. GERALMNE. There was a good attendance at the Geraldine yards yesterday and a brisk sale, there being a keen demand for all classes of stock. There was a large entry of sheep, and the prices realised were:—Eat wethers 15s to 17s 6d, four and six-tooth wethers and maiden ewes (fat) 17s 6d to 19s 2d, fat ewes 13s lOd, 13s, 13s- sd, 14s, 14s 2d, 15s 6d to 16s 9d, two-tooth wethers and maiden ewes 13s 3d to 14s 3d, ewes: and lambs (all counted) 7s, 7s 9d, lis to lis 3d, broken mouth ewes and lambs (all counted) 8s Id, forward half-bred wethers 12s 3d to 14s 9d, three-quarter-bred hoggets 10s to 13s, four and six-tooth 'wethers 15s 7d, two-tooths 8s sd. There was an entry of about 30 head of cattle. Fat cows brought £8 2s 6d, Jersey cow £7 ss, strawberry cow £7, cows in profit £5, £5 10s to £7, steers £6 2s 6d, springers £6 10s to £7. There was a small entry of pigs, I and a hire demand. Weaners made 10s 6d,, 114 s6d to 15s 6d, the dearest pigs ever [ sold in the yards. A poor sample of potatoes brought as high as 9s 6d a sack.

Fat cattle—lß3 were'penned, prices ruling slightly lower than last week's rates. Best bullocks £lO 10s to £l2 10s, medium £9 to £lO ss, best cows and heifers £8 10s to £lO ss, medium £7 to £8 ss. Sheep —2578 were yarded, prices ruling about the same as last week. Wethers in the wool 223 6d, shorn 19s to 21s 9d, medium 16s to 18s 6d, ewes in wool 21s 6'd, shorn 19s to 22s 3d, medium 16s to 18s. Lambs—--SCO were penned, prices ruling about the same as last week. Best 14s to 15s 3d r medium to good lis to 13s 6d, others 9s to 10s 6d. Pigs—l 26 were yarded, all sorts, being very dear. Suckers lis to 21s, slips 22s to 255, stores 26s to 30s, porkers 34s to 425, baconers 47s to 665, heavy pigs 70s to 80s.

PROPERTY SALES. Messrs Tonks, Norton and Co., auctioneers, yesterday submitted to public auction several properties on account of Mrs Donan. There was a large attendance, and bidding was fairly keen. Two cottages and sections in Fife Street, city,, were offered, but failed to reach the reserve. The following were the properties sold:—Section and two-storey house in Albemarle Street, to Mr Welsford. for £405. Section and house in Kingsley Street, Sydenham, to Mr M'llroy, for £235. Section 'and house in Kingsley Street, Sydenham, to Mr Welsford" for £ls °- Section and house in Brougham Street, "Sydenham, to Mr J. H; Welsford, for £2OO. Also, on account of the mortgagees, seven acres and dwelling in Preston's Road, to Sir Thomas SfFadden, for £SOO.
