WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. The receipts of the Wellington Racing Club for the year ending August 16 amounted to £l-1,587. The tolalisator receipts, after the payment of the State tax and expenses, were £6864. The expenditure was £15,086, including £11,930 for stakes.
The racing -season proper will open to-day, with the South Canterbury Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, at the Timaru racecourse. The following horses may mil prominently in their respective engagements;—Hurdle Race, Surrey; President's Welter Handicap, Narcissus; Timaru Handicap, Somerled; Hunters’ Steeplechase, Zither; Flying Handicap, Wellbeck and Goldspur; Washdyke Trot, Little Beil.
