FOOTBALL.

NORTH v. SOUTH ISLAND. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 2.

The North Island representative team has been definitely chosen as follows: Full-back, E. M’Kenzie (Wairarapa) ; threequarters, Asher (Auckland), Wallace (Wellington) and Tregear (Wanganui) ; fiveeighths, M’Gregor (Auckland); half, Kiernan (Auckland); wings, Laing (Auckland) and Armstrong (Wairarapa); ' forwards, Dodd (Wellington), Tyler, Cunningham, M’Duff, Long and Nicholson (Auckland), and O’Dowda (Taranaki). The inclusion of Tregear comes as a surprise. Auckland has no fewer than nine representatives in the team. The South Island representatives will probably be picked on Sunday, when Messrs Evans, Harris and Galbraith will be in Christchurch. Booth . (Otago) is likely to be full back, and Smith (Nelson) has a rosy chance of being selected as fiveeighths. [Per Press Association.] NELSON, Sept. 2.
