One hundred and one started for -the Warrnambool to Melbourne Road The going in sections of the journey was very heavy, and numerous accidents occurred. The most serious mishap was when Robertson collided with a blind horse and received a slight concussion of the brain. Ralston, Forbes and Jewell were the scratch men. Ralston had the dual misfortune of a punctured tyre and a fall, each necessitating a change of machine. 'Jtie found himself alone sixty-nine miles from Melbourne, and had to make the rest of the journey without a pace-maker. He finished nineteenth in Bhr 54min 22sec. Calder was fifteenth, his time being Bhr 57min s.3sec. None of the inter-State riders secured prizes.
