RETIREMENT OF COLONEL GORDON. Yesterday -ifternoon, Colonel Gordon, after reviewing the Christs' College Calet Corps, bade them farewell as far as future official relations were concerned. The corps 'paraded at four o'clock, and were first, of all put through a series of company movements by Major Richards, and were afterwards inspected-; by Colonel Gordon. The company was then drawn tip on the green opp'osita the headmaster's house, and a short farewell speech was \lelivered by the Colonel. He said that ho had come, firstly, to see that the corps had lost none of,its excellence, and, secondly, to 'say :na official farewell, for he would not have the pleasure and honour of inspecting them again. He had known the corps for ten years, and during; that time they- bad maintained am even excellence throughout.' They had endeavoured to work towards excellence; they' had followed' the instruction and precepts of their instructor, Major Richards, to the best of their ability. Though he said good-bye to them officially, he hoped still to bs able to watch them, and to see that they kept on the good course they had pursued all along. Three hearty cheers were then given for Colonel Gordon, followed by one for Mrs Gordon. The Malvern Mounted Rifles, Captain Deans commanding, went into camp on the Sheffield Domain on Monday afternoon.
