CYCLING.

A meeting of the committee of the' Ohristchurch Cycling- Club was lield in the clubhouse on Menday evening, the captain (Mr J. R. Burns) in the chair. It was decided to hold tho Hill-climbing Championship on Thursday next, the precession leaving the Post Office ait 2.30 p.m. It was also decided to hold a theatre night at Dix's in connection with the hill-climbing, at which the prizes will be presented. The Secretary was instructed to give a number of members Whose subscriptions were • nob paid one month to settle in; and' to take legal proceedings if the subscriptions, were not paid by Oct. 31. Messrs R. C. Bishe.p, W. F. Thompson, J. Burgess, F. G. Pannell, J. R. Burns and the Secretary were appointed a deputation to wait on the Floral Fete Executive with regard to the use of Lancaster Park on Dec. 16. A vote of thanks was passed to the sub-committee and. the performers • who had made the smoke concert on'Thursday,:£o great, a success. , , The Ash-burton Amateur Cycling and, Athletic Club will open ;the season on Oct. 17 by hiclding a meeting in the Domain. The programme will include bicycle and flat races, and school) boys' and! members' races.
